flatland cli

Financial models from your terminal.

Describe a decision. Inspect the model. Hand off Excel.

The terminal client is published as flatland-agent. It builds structured financial models, runs sensitivity and scenario analysis, and exports Excel workbooks. Its scope is financial modeling and quantitative reasoning.

The published npm release is 0.6.0. The next CLI release is being prepared; the instructions below apply to the published version.

What 0.6.0 needs.

Node.js 18 or later, a flatland API key, and an Anthropic or OpenAI API key. Published 0.6.0 uses your chosen AI provider account. An invitation to desk is a separate access path; it isn’t a CLI API key.

npx flatland-agent@0.6.0

The first-run wizard asks for the flatland key, your AI provider and its key. If you already have a flatland API key, follow the API setup instructions. For questions about CLI access, contact Flatland Labs.

For a persistent command, install this version globally:

npm install -g flatland-agent@0.6.0
flatland

Both flatland and flatland-agent launch the same client. Use flatland --setup to run setup again. The package named flatland-cli isn’t the terminal client.

Keep working in the model.

Start with the decision you need to understand and the assumptions you have. Inspect the named drivers and formulas, explore a different scenario, then export a workbook. The agent’s commentary and the engine’s calculated output are separate.

Use /save and /load to return to a model, /scenarios to inspect scenarios, /sensitivity to explore what drives a result, and /export for the workbook. /help lists the available commands.

A model depends on its inputs. Inspect assumptions and formulas before relying on a result; the CLI doesn’t decide whether an assumption is correct.
