The agent whiteboard.

Draw next to your agent, and it reads your drawing on its next turn.

board opens beside one Claude Code or Codex terminal conversation. After each completed turn, an observer sketches the salient idea. Circle a phrase, cross out a path, or add a short thought to steer what happens next.

Review, then confirm.

Drawing is exploration. Choose Review direction to read and edit the interpretation, then Confirm direction to queue it. The next prompt you submit in the terminal carries that direction to your agent.

Your conversation continues in its terminal. board doesn’t approve tools or actions. Closing its browser tab doesn’t detach it; use Detach · stop observing in the session menu when you want to stop.

Select sketched phrases to open their source turns. Your saved board keeps its ink, placements and correction history when you reopen the same conversation.

Install for your terminal.

Windows, macOS or Linux. Install Node.js 22.18 or later and log in to a current Claude Code. The observer uses Claude Code even when the conversation you steer is in Codex. Install a current Codex CLI as well if you use it.

npm install -g flatland-board@0.2.0
board install claude
board doctor

For Codex, use board install codex instead, or install both integrations. Then start a new agent session. In Codex, review and trust board’s hooks through /hooks.

Open board from that conversation: /board in Claude Code, or $board in Codex. Codex also offers board through /skills. Installation needs the global package; a temporary npx install won’t leave working hooks behind.

If PowerShell blocks the npm shim, use npm.cmd and board.cmd. For upgrades, uninstalling and troubleshooting, read the full instructions.

Your observer account.

The observer sends visible conversation text to Claude through your Claude Code account. Your account’s usage and limits apply. If an Anthropic API key is set, Claude Code uses that key; board doctor shows which login is in use.

Read the data handling details before attaching a conversation.
